How it all began

“The first time I saw Madeleine, she was arriving late to freshman orientation, which I later learned was because her mother had such a hard time saying goodbye that she missed her flight. She came into the common area of our dorm fresh from the airport in the middle of an icebreaker involving passing around a beach ball and introducing yourself. Someone threw the ball to her while she was still standing in the doorway and she, totally unflustered, answered every question before even getting to sit down. I had a crush instantly. We quickly became friends, and some of my favorite memories that year involve talking with her in the lounge as the sun went down and throwing snowballs and paper planes off the dorm’s balcony to see who could hit this or that target on the ground below. She always brings such curiosity, joy, beauty and excitement to everything.”

“Chad has been one of my best friends since I was 18. He’s adventurous, brilliant, silly, and understands me on a level I didn’t know was possible before. One of my favorite days together was when Chad first said I love you. The summer of 2017, we planned a camping trip at Salisbury Beach. We spend the day swimming and having fun in the sand and set-up our tent as the sunset. We went back to the shoreline to watch the moonrise over the ocean. We sat quietly for a long time watching the reflection of the moon in the water and he told me as the cool night air started to come in off the ocean. That night will always be one of my most cherished memories.”

Mad & Chad

Mad & Chad met freshman year of college (photo evidence below), were fast & great friends from the beginning, and started dating towards the end of senior year after many nights playing pool, throwing paper airplanes, and co-writing a regular beer review column for the student newspaper called “Mad and Chad Unofficial Reviews.” Since then, we’ve navigated a year of long distance with lots of road trips and visits, and shared a studio together right behind Fenway Park, singing along to the 7th inning stretch of “Sweet Caroline.” We're ready to make this official!
